Is it Your Birthday???
If so, tell someone when you give your ticket in at the turnstyle. The friendly Cast Member (Disney employee) will direct you to City Hall's Guest Services (1st building on your left). Also inquire at City Hall about a phone call from Goofy or another character to your child (shhhh...) Sometimes a store clerk, I mean Cast Member, will set it up for you, so try that, too. The character(s) will sing "Happy Birthday" to your child. Have your camera ready for that perfect smile.
City Hall will ask the name of your child and give you a pin for them to wear for the day. A different pin is offered at EACH park. You will sometimes receive a character-signed certificate right then and there or from someone else in the park. Every employee who sees you WILL wish you a happy birthday. The Cast Members are pretty good about this, but there are a few who don't notice.
Sorry, no free meals or "head-of-the-line privileges," but you will feel special as you enjoy your day at the park.
On our most recent Birthday Visit, the Cast Member at the Main Street Railroad wished my son a Happy Birthday and asked which ride we hoped to go on first. She then offered us Special Fast Passes - even though this ride does not even offer them to the regular public. You never know when the birthday pin you wear is going to get you a "Magical Moment."
As an addendum, I recently, and for the first time of my hundreds of visits, noticed someone wearing a pin that said, "My 1st Visit." This is something worth checking into, as well.
